About Kong

Kong is a Megaprimatus, an ancient species of giant ape standing approximately three stories tall. Reign of Kong at Universal's Islands of Adventure was originally published on July 27, 2021, at 09:30 AM by Denielle Ricci.

The Ride

Reign of Kong is a trackless dark ride located at Universal Islands of Adventure theme park within Universal Orlando Resort. Universal Creative based its design on various films in the King Kong franchise and consulted with Peter Jackson, who directed the 2005 film King Kong, during the initial phase of the project.

Reign of Kong is both an attraction and an entire island unto itself located between Toon Lagoon's Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls and the Thunder Falls Terrace restaurant in Jurassic Park. The ride is an original adventure set in the 1930s, casting guests as explorers with the 8th Wonder Expedition Company.

Reign of Kong features a mix of screen-based and practical effects and becomes the longest ride in Universal Orlando Resorts history. After making their way to base camp through the queue line, guests board enormous safari trucks before being taken on an adventure deep into Skull Island's jungle.

Safety

Safety is a top priority at Universal Orlando. Ride height requirements allow guests to have the best experience on every ride and attraction.

Universal Islands of Adventure, also known as Islands of Adventure or IOA, originally called Universal Studios Islands of Adventure and later Universal's Islands of Adventure, is a theme park located in Orlando, Florida. It opened on May 28, 1999, along with CityWalk as part of an expansion that converted Universal Studios.
