Broken Collarbone Ribs And Collapsed Lung

Jonas Vingegaard suffers serious injuries in crash

Broken collarbone, ribs, and collapsed lung

Reigning Tour de France champion to miss altitude camp

Reigning Tour de France champion Jonas Vingegaard has suffered a broken collarbone, several broken ribs, and a collapsed lung in a crash at the Itzulia Basque Country. The injuries are more serious than initially thought, and Vingegaard will now miss a planned altitude camp in Spain in May.

Vingegaard crashed on the fourth stage of the race, which was won by his main rival Primoz Roglic of Bora-Hansgrohe. The Dane was taken to hospital, where he underwent surgery on his collarbone. He is now recovering at home.

Vingegaard's team, Jumbo-Visma, has confirmed that he will not be able to attend the altitude camp in Sierra Nevada, Spain, which was scheduled to take place from May 15-29. The camp is an important part of Vingegaard's preparation for the Tour de France, which starts on July 1.

It is unclear how long Vingegaard will be out of action. However, the injuries are a major setback for the 26-year-old, who is one of the favorites to win the Tour de France this year.
