20 Million Investment to Establish Nairobi Assembly Plant

Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Chery has partnered with Kenyan company Afrigreen Automobile to establish an assembly plant in Nairobi, Kenya.

The investment of 201 million Sh262 billion will create 3,000 direct and indirect jobs in the country's automotive sector. The plant is expected to produce electric vehicles for both local and regional markets.

Chery's partnership with Afrigreen is a significant step towards Kenya's goal of transitioning to a more sustainable transportation system. The government has set an ambitious target of having all new vehicles sold in the country be electric by 2030.

The partnership between Chery and Afrigreen is a testament to the growing interest in electric vehicles in Africa. The continent is rapidly urbanizing, and the demand for affordable and environmentally friendly transportation is increasing.

The investment by Chery is a vote of confidence in Kenya's automotive industry and the country's commitment to clean energy. The establishment of the assembly plant will not only create jobs but also contribute to the development of a skilled workforce in the EV sector.
