Hynes Must Act Like He Owns The Joint Upset On If Battle Turns Ugly Matty Cronks Finals Verdict

Did Hynes 'act like he owns the joint'? Matty Johns and Cooper Cronk's verdict on the Blues halfback's Origin I performance

Hynes faced a baptism of fire against Queensland

Jack Hynes has been given a spray by NRL legends Matty Johns and Cooper Cronk for his performance in the Blues' Origin I loss.

Hynes was handed the Blues No.7 jersey for the series opener but failed to live up to expectations, making a number of errors and struggling to control the game.

Johns said Hynes "didn't look like he owned the joint" and was "a little bit lost" at times.

Cronk said Hynes was 'not ready'

Cronk was even more critical, saying Hynes was "not ready" for the Origin arena.

"He's a great player, but he's not ready for this level yet," Cronk said.

"He made too many mistakes and wasn't able to control the game. Queensland were able to put him under pressure and he crumbled."

Hynes could be dropped for Origin II

Hynes' performance has put his place in the Blues team for Origin II in jeopardy.

NSW coach Brad Fittler has said he will consider making changes to his team for the second game.

If Hynes is dropped, he is likely to be replaced by Sharks halfback Nicho Hynes.

Hynes must 'act like he owns the joint'

If Hynes wants to keep his spot in the Blues team, he will need to "act like he owns the joint" in Origin II.

He will need to be more assertive and take control of the game.

He will also need to cut down on his errors and make better decisions.

Cronk's Finals Verdict

Cronk said the Blues can still win the series, but they need to improve their performance in Origin II.

"They need to be more physical and they need to control the game better," Cronk said.

"If they can do that, they can win the series.
